thanks for the questions. Actually seeing it afterwards the plan should have been just as straight as possible. In the beginning of the leg I was thinking that, then changed to go a bit left to remain on higher level on the meadows - like going through 11th, 10th and into the control but I was totally not precise with my orienteering on that leg - you see I was way too far left already from the beginning. Then I corrected and got 11th easily with high speed but I was still not focused on orienteering at all - I was just pushing and this is because the orienteering on this terrain was rather easy so I really underestimated that leg with so much open areas and big features - so after 11th control I was "just going forward" to the next big meadow. In fact I was turning a bit too much to the right, not checking the map and compass at all and ended up somewhere which didn't fit my mental-picture and I had to relocate. Needed a bit of time to understand what I did. So basicly underestimating a leg in an orienteering race is never a good idea. No matter how easy it is/looks.

Thanks! I usually sell the old and buy the newest gopro so this one must have been with gopro 10-11 black. Now I got 12. But in general all of these with the stabilization (maybe after 9) in the model are great.

Yeah, it was! The course is great - varied, beautiful nature, lots of small technical paths. And the weather was a bonus :)

Thanks! In fact both times I was going out of the plan so I had to correct. For example at 3rd control I could have seen it earlier as the tree and the fallen tree were visible in the terrain but I was so "sure" I am above the control. First red flag I did not take in mind was the small gully before the big one, right before the control - I thought - I shall be higher, this one is not on the map. Then the second red flag were the tree and the fallen tree but still.. haha :) and finally I realized the mistake and corrected but still lost 20 secs. For 11th I had a plan to go higher and see the one gully that is longer and goes higher than all the others.. I think I recognized it in the terrain but then with a rough direction I though I'll see the knolls and the control but not.. went a bit further but then I had to stop and decide if I'm going too far.. as it was in fact. Maybe I did not go down enough but maybe it was a bit lower looking at the gps data. Never mind when the things doesn't seem like what you expect one shall stop and think and not just continue running :).. I guess.

WOC map was way more accurate and easy to read. I think the main problem here was that our courses were made without anybody visiting the terrain in advance so then sometimes you use features that are not OK for a control placement.

Actually not on purpose.. I didn’t see that as an option maybe because one has to climb a bit more and the forest is ok speed as well.
